Utah Valley Falls Short Of Upset Over No. 9 Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ken. – The Utah Valley Wolverines nearly pulled off a massive upset over No. 9 Kentucky but fell short in Rupp Arena, 82-74.
The game was close throughout but the Wildcats created some separation late in the first half to take a 35-27 lead at the halftime break.
It was even in the second half as both teams scored 47 points. Utah Valley trailed by 4 points with 2 minutes left in the game. They weren’t able to hit shots when they needed them the most and when they did, it was too late.

Kentucky was coming off of a massive upset loss at home to Evansville when they were ranked No. 1 in the country.
T.J. Washington led the Wolverines with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, while shooting 8-of-18 from the field and 5-for-12 from downtown. Trey Woodbury added 17 points and Jamison Overton chipped in 10 points off the bench.
Utah Valley knocked down 11 of their 31 attempts from the three-point line, while Kentucky struggled, making just 1-of-12 from deep. The Wildcats made up for their poor three-point shooting with 34 free throw attempts, converting on 31 of them.
The Wolverines dropped to 3-2 on the season. They will return home on Thursday against Lamar. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on the KSL TV app and the WAC Digital Network.
