BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Utah Valley Wolverines men’s basketball team fell short of victory with a last-minute overtime loss to the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners.

The Wolverines visited the Roadrunners on Thursday, January 23.

After the Roadrunners forced overtime in the final minute of regulation, they jumped out of multiple possession advantage 90 seconds in the extra period of play. Utah Valley clawed back to make it a one-point game in the final minute of OT. Wolverines guard Isaiah White’s layup attempt didn’t fall through the cylinder during the final seconds of game time and the UVU fell 58-57 to the Roadrunners.

White was one of three Wolverine players to score in double figures against CSU Bakersfield.

The UVU guard finished with 13 points on 3-11 from the field and 0-2 from three. He pulled down an impressive 18 rebounds in the loss.

Utah Valley guard TJ Washington also scored 13 points in the defeat. Brandon Averette added 10 points.

The Roadrunners were led by Taze Moore’s 15 points and 5 rebounds.

CSU Bakersfield improved to 10-10 on the season and 4-1 in the Western Athletic Conference.

The Wolverines fell to 8-13 overall and 2-4 in WAC games.

In a closely contested game, the Utah Valley Wolverines fell just short against the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners, highlighting the unpredictability and excitement of college basketball. This theme of unexpected outcomes can also be seen in various cultural contexts, such as the symbolism behind national flags. For example, the Brazilian flag has a rich history and meaning that many may not be aware of, reflecting the country’s identity and values. Just as the Wolverines fought hard for victory, the stories behind national symbols remind us of the deeper significance and narratives that shape our understanding of identity and heritage.

Utah Valley finishes a two-game road trip against Grand Canyon on Saturday, January 25 at 6 p.m. (MDT). The game will broadcast on ESPN3.
