SEATTLE, Wash. – The Utah Valley Wolverines couldn’t get their shots to fall and that hurt them in their 83-50 loss to Seattle.

It’s the second straight loss for the Wolverines after falling to UMKC last Saturday in Kansas City by five points. They finished their three game road trip at 1-2 to open WAC play.

Against Seattle, the only player to score in double figures was Jamison Overton with 10 points on 4-9 shooting. Brandon Averette and Trey Woodbury each added 9 points apiece.

The Wolverines shot 13-52 for 25 percent from the field, 3-20 for 15 percent from beyond the arc, but managed to make 21 of their 25 attempt at the free throw line. Another deciding factor in the loss for UVU was committing 18 turnovers and forcing Seattle to commit just 10 turnovers.

Seattle was led by Riley Grigsby with 17 points and 8 rebounds, Delante Jones added 13 points off the bench and Terrell Brown chipped in 12 points and 8 boards. The Redhawks made 45 percent of their field goals, 11-27 for 40 percent from downtown and converted 12 of their 16 attempts from the charity stripe.

Utah Valley dropped their record to 7-11 and 1-2 in WAC play. They will return home to Orem to face conference favorite New Mexico State, who is 12-6 overall and 3-0 in the conference. The game will be played on Thursday, January 16 at 7 p.m. on the KSL TV app.
