Isiah Brown’s Last Second Layup Gives Weber State Road Sweep Over Sacramento State

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State Wildcats were able to pick up a road sweep over Sacramento State 72-70 on a last second layup by Isiah Brown.

On Saturday afternoon, Weber State had a two-point lead over Sacramento State with 17 seconds left. Christian Terrell nailed a deep two-pointer to tie the game with 8 seconds remaining. Isiah Brown received the inbounds pass and ran coast-to-coast to score the layup to take the lead with one second on the clock.

The Hornets called a timeout. After the timeout, Zahir Porter stole the inbounds pass to seal the win for the Wildcats.

It was a close game throughout as Weber State outscored Sacramento State 36-35 in both the first and second halves. The Wildcats’ largest lead was 8 points with 6:50 remaining in the opening half. Sacramento State’s largest lead was 5 with 15:17 left in the first half. The lead changed 14 times and was tied for 8:37 of the ball game.

Porter led the Wildcats with 20 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists on 9-of-12 shooting from the field and 2-for-3 from the three-point line. Brown added 18 points and 3 boards. Dillon Jones scored 12 points and pulled down 8 rebounds off the bench.

Ethan Esposito had 26 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Hornets. Bryce Fowler and Christian Terrell rounded out their double figure scorers with 10 points apiece.

Weber State improved their record to 16-5 overall and 11-3 in Big Sky play, picking up their fifth straight win. They will wrap up the regular season with a two-game series at home against Northern Colorado. The series will begin on Thursday, March 4 before finishing up on Saturday, March 6. Thursday’s game will start at 7 p.m. MST, with the Saturday game tipping off at 12 p.m. MST. Both games can be streamed on Pluto TV channel 1054 and heard on 103.1 FM “The Wave.”
