Weber State Beats Northern Colorado On Free Throws In Final Seconds

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State men’s basketball team defeated the Northern Colorado Bears on foul shots in the final minute of action.

The Wildcats hosted the Bears on Thursday, March 4.

After Weber State’s Isiah Brown tied the game at 59 on a pair of free throws with nine seconds left, Michal Kozak was fouled on a defensive rebound in the final seconds of the game.

Kozak went to the charity stripe and made the first of two attempts to give the Wildcats a one-point advantage and the game-winning point in a 60-59 win by Weber State.

The big man finished the contest with five points, six rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two blocks.

Weber State was led by Brown and Dillon Jones, who each scored 18 points.

The Wildcats finished the game shooting 42.6 percent overall and only 10.0 percent from three.

Weber State limited Northern Colorado to 35.7 percent from the field, including 31.0 percent from beyond the arc.

The Bears were led by Kur Jockuch’s 15 points.

With the win, the Wildcats improved to 17-5 on the season and a record of 12-3 in the Big Sky Conference.

Weber State’s next game is the second contest of a back-to-back against Northern Colorado. The Wildcats are scheduled to host the Bears again on Saturday, March 6 at 12 p.m. (MDT).
