OGDEN, Utah – Weber State guard Isiah Brown announced on Thursday afternoon that he will hire an agent and declare for the 2021 NBA Draft.

Isiah Brown spent one season with Weber State during the 2020-21 season before deciding to take his talents to the NBA and enter the draft. By hiring an agent, he will forgo his remaining college eligibility. He had the opportunity to come back for another season despite being a season after eligibility was frozen last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Brown posted a letter on social media to announce his decision:

“First and foremost, I want to thank God for the opportunity to play the game that I love the most. My college career was filled with ups and downs that not only pushed me to become better on the floor, but off of it as well. I am extremely blessed for the journey that I’ve had up to his point, and am grateful for every step, and every person along the way. All of them have prepared me for this next chapter.

To my family and friends, who have supported me and encouraged me every step of the way, none of this is possible without you. Your belief in me is what has kept me going through my darkest days and I will continue to do my best to make good on that belief. I owe you everything.

To every single one of my coaches and teammates at Northwestern and Grand Canyon University, thank you for being apart of this journey. To my Weber State family, coach Rahe and staff, my teammates and the entire university and community in Ogden, thank you for the chance you took on me. Thank you for embracing me, and for believing in me. My heart purple forever.

With that being said, I’ve signed with an agent and will declare for the 2021 NBA Draft. I’m blessed to chase the dream. Thank you!”

Brown earned first-team All-District and All-Big Sky honors while winning the Big Sky Newcomer of the Year award this past season. He averaged 17.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and shot 49 percent from the field.

Before arriving at Weber State, Brown started his college career at Northwestern, where he spent two seasons. He averaged 5.3 points and 1.2 assists in 60 games. Then he transferred to Grand Canyon for the 2019-20 season, appearing in 30 games with 18 starts. Brown posted averages of 9.3 points and 1.7 assists per contest.
