Weber State Men’s Basketball Adds Two Front Court Players

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Weber State men’s basketball head coach Randy Rahe announced the addition of two players to the Wildcats’ front court.

Rahe announced the addition of Dyson Koehler and Alex Tew as the newest Wildcat basketball players on Friday, May 21.
“We couldn’t be more excited for Dyson and Alex to join our program,” Rahe said in a statement. “Both are very hard workers and excellent students and will fit our culture really well. They both have very bright futures in our program.”
Dyson Koehler
Koehler is a 6-7, 220-pound forward from Salt Lake City.
He played high school basketball for the Jordan Beetdiggers. Koehler finished his high school career setting Jordan High school records for points and rebounds.
As a senior with the Beetdiggers, Koehler averaged 19.6 points and 8.7 rebounds per contest and earned first-team All-State honors for the second time.
Koehler transferred to Weber State from Cal Poly, where he played the 2020-21 season. During his time at Cal Poly, Koehler played in 18 games, including three starts. He averaged 3.2 points per game.

“Dyson is a very highly skilled player, an excellent 3-point shooter and has a really good feel for the game,” Rahe said. “He is a strong, physical player that is college-ready with a tremendous future.”
Koehler will have four years of eligibility with the Wildcats.
Alex Tew
Tew is a 6-11, 245-pound center from Chesire, England.
Last year, he attended prep school at Cooper International Academy in Pomona, California.
At Cooper, Tew averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks per game.

“Alex has excellent size, a physical body with great hands and feet, and has a good feel for the game,” Rahe said. “He only started playing at age 15 so he is young in the game but has a good skill level and sees the floor very well. He has a terrific upside to how good he can be.”
