Utah Student Jaelin Kauf Secures Second Moguls Medal In Italy

MILAN, Italy – Utah’s Jaelin Kauf earned her second moguls medal in less than a week, securing Silver in the first dual moguls Olympic event ever.
It was the second medal of the Games for the No. 1-ranked dual moguls skier in the world after Kauf earned silver in the single moguls event.
2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics Medal Count
Australia’s Jakara Anthony prevailed for Gold. Single moguls Gold medalist Liz Lemley won Bronze.
The day began with Team USA skiers Tess Johnson and Olivia Giaccio competing in the 1/16 final. Teammates Jaelin Kauf and Liz Lemley received byes into the 1/8 final.

1/8 Final
Looking for her second medal of the Games, Jaelin Kauf got a little hung up coming out of the gates, but that didn’t deter her.
Kauf flew by her competition, advancing to the semifinals with 29 of the 35 possible points.

Quarterfinal
The University of Utah student advanced to the semifinals when her opponent fell across the course’s center line.
Semifinal
Both competitors crashed during the semifinal run, but the 29-year-old Kauf advanced after her opponent skied off course.
Gold Medal Final
A small mistake in the middle of the Gold medal race relegated Kauf to her second Silver medal of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Tess Johnson
1/16 Final
25-year-old Tess Johnson faced Canada’s Laurianne Desmarais-Gilbert in her 1/16 heat.
Johnson fought through heavy snowfall to qualify for the 1/8 heat with a 22.
1/8 Final
Her second run was equally impressive.
The Utah resident came in second behind Japan’s Hina Fujiki, but earned enough style points to advance 20-15.
Quarterfinal
Johnson fell back out of the gates.
The American couldn’t make up the difference, falling to Perrine Laffont 18-17.
Olivia Giaccio
1/16 Final
A large cheering contingent set the tone for Olivia Giaccio to advance.
Giaccio’s opponent did not finish, allowing the Park City, Utah, resident to reach the 1/8 round
1/8 Final
Turns and jumps made all the difference after Giaccio and Austria’s Avital Carroll finished simultaneously.
Giaccio won 20.5 to 14.5, joining her teammates in the next round.
Quarterfinal
Similar to her teammate, Giaccio fell behind early and couldn’t make up the difference.
The 25-year-old fell 20-15 to Australia’s Jakara Anthony.
