Olympic Torch Arrives In Tokyo Ahead Of Summer Games

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Olympic torch arrived at the site of the 2020/21 Summer Games in Tokyo, Japan on Friday, two weeks before competition.
It was an unusual Olympic torch relay as the public in Tokyo was kept away due to COVID-19 concerns and the country entering a state of emergency. The flame arrived two weeks before the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games.
According to reports, the torch was brought on a stage in a lantern that was handed to Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike. Olympic organizers announced on Thursday night that fans would not be allowed to attend the torch relay as it arrived in Tokyo on Friday.

Tokyo and Olympic officials announced recently that spectators would not be allowed to attend any of the events during the Summer Games due to a recent spike in COVID-19 cases.
