Westminster Golf On The Rise Thanks To Healthy Team Chemistry

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Westminster Golf program is on the rise. The head coach of the Westminster Griffins, Daniel Engle, was originally hired two years ago and has since made some remarkable progress in charge of the program.
The Griffins finished 64th in the country during the 2018-19 season, despite starting the season as the 109th best team in the country.
High school golfers from around the country aspire to play at the college level before they hope to one day make it on the PGA Tour. Since Engle’s arrival at Westminster, an influx of talented golfers has followed his lead and this year’s recruiting class is no different. Engle’s coaching philosophy is simple, first, he strives to create good team chemistry, then he recruits kids that seem coachable.
“Being coachable is honestly one of the biggest things I look for,” Engle said when asked what he looks for in high school golfers.
“Going low is also important, I would much prefer to recruit a kid that can shoot a 65 and a 75 as opposed to someone who constantly shoots 72,” Engle added.
