Locals In The NFL: Best Matchups To Watch In Week Six

Oct 9, 2025, 5:56 PM

Week six of the 2025 NFL season kicks off tonight!

From Thursday to Monday, there are plenty of intriguing matchups with ties to the state of Utah worth following.

Here’s a look at the top games — including the one we think stands out above the rest.

Noteworthy Locals In The NFL Week 6 Matchups

This week, there aren’t as many notable games to highlight. So, I will start with the two local quarterbacks and their games.

Former Roy & Corner Canyon quarterback Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football. It will be Dart’s third start of the season. There are no other players with Utah ties on either team.

Former Utah State quarterback Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers return from their bye week to take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday in the afternoon window.

Ravens vs. Rams – Sunday, October 12 at 11 a.m. (MT)

Similar to my matchup of the week last week, the Rams make this game despite there only being two locals, one for each team.

Los Angeles has former BYU wide receiver Puka Nacua, who has been on an absolute tear so far this season. He leads the league in both receptions and receiving yards through five weeks.

Baltimore has one former Cougar as well, linebacker Kyle Van Noy. After making his first Pro Bowl and finishing top five in sacks, Van Noy hasn’t had the same success early this year. However, he will have another opportunity to wreak havoc in the back field this weekend.

Commanders vs. Bears – Monday, October 13 at 6:15 p.m. (MT)

A lot of different schools will be represented as Washington hosts Chicago on Monday night.

The Commanders have two locals, former Utah State linebacker Bobby Wagner and former Utah kicker Matt Gay. It’ll be two active locals for the Bears as well, former Southern Utah offensive lineman Braxton Jones and Orem High standout linebacker Noah Sewell.

Chicago also has former Utah cornerback Jaylon Johnson. However, he is currently on the injured reserve with a groin injury.

Honorable Mentions

  • The Denver Broncos take on the New York Jets in England early on Sunday. Denver has former Utah OL Garett Bolles, former Utah LB Jonah Elliss, and former Utah LB Karene Reid. The Jets have one local themselves: former Bingham High DT Jay Tufele.
  • The New Orleans Saints host the New England Patriots early on Sunday. The Saints have a pair of wide receivers with local ties, Utah’s Devaughn Vele and Weber State’s Rashid Shaheed. The Patriots have former BYU DT Khyiris Tonga.
  • The Kansas City Chiefs take on the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football. For KC, it’s BYU alum Andy Reid leading the show, along with former BYU OL Kingsley Suamataia, former Utah State WR Jalen Royals, and Kearns High standout LB Jeffrey Bassa. Detroit has Desert Hills OL Penei Sewell and former Utah two-way star Sione Vaki.

Week Six’s Top Game To Tune In To For Locals

Falcons vs. Bills – Monday, October 13 at 5:15 p.m. (MT)

A whopping seven locals will suit up as Atlanta hosts Buffalo on Monday Night Football.

Buffalo is tied for the team with the most local players; they have former Highland High tight end Jackson Hawes, former Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid, former Utah safety Cole Bishop, and former Weber State cornerback Taron Johnson.

Atlanta has three themselves with former BYU running back Tyler Allgeier, former Utah cornerback Clark Phillips III, and Judge Memorial High linebacker Kaden Elliss.
