SALT LAKE CITYThe Utah Jazz offseason is underway, and several key dates over the coming summer months will determine the team’s future.

Between the NBA lottery, contract guarantee dates, the NBA Draft, and the Summer League, the Jazz will have a busy offseason.

Utah Jazz Important Dates For 2025 Summer

April 26: NBA Early Entry Deadline

This is the last day underclassmen can submit their names for the NBA Draft. With more players drawing paychecks in college, this list might be shorter than it has been in years past.

May 11-18: NBA Draft Combine

With two first round picks, and two second-round picks, the Jazz will be major players at the NBA combine.

NIL funds have encouraged more players to return to college who would have otherwise entered the NBA, putting added emphasis on combine workouts to find true value late in the draft.

May 12: NBA Draft Lottery

The most important day of the Jazz offseason, when the team will learn the result of a season-long effort to improve their draft pick.

The Jazz are guaranteed to land a top-five draft pick, the only question is where they land at the top of the draft.

June 15: NBA Early Entry Withdrawal Date

With the NBA combine in the rearview mirror, potential draftees will have a better understanding of where they might be selected in the draft.

For those who aren’t comfortable with their projections, this is the last day for them to pull their names out of the draft.

June ???: Begin Negotiations With Own Free Agents

Under the NBA’s new collective bargaining agreement, teams can begin negotiations with their own free agents on the first day after the Finals end.

June 25-26: NBA Draft

The second most important dates of the Jazz’s summer.

With a top-five pick, the 21st overall pick, and two second-rounders, the Jazz will bring in several new faces they hope will accelerate the franchise’s rebuild.

June 26 – John Collins Player Option

Despite a breakout season from John Collins, and a relatively weak free agent class, the Jazz forward seems likely to opt into his $26.5 million player option.

The Jazz could explore extension talks with Collins this summer, but his large expiring contract would also be a valuable asset in the team’s rebuild.

June 30 – Svi Mykhailiuk And Johnny Juzang Contract Guarantees

If Svi Mykhailiuk or Johnny Juzang remain on the Jazz roster beyond June 30, their individual contracts will become guaranteed.

Mykhailiuk would be owed $3.7 million while Juzang would be owed $2.8 million.

June 30 – Free Agency Negotiation Begins

With the rest of the league, the Jazz will be able to negotiate contracts with free agents.

The Jazz can also explore extension options with Collin Sexton, Jordan Clarkson, and Walker Kessler.

July 6 – Teams Can Officially Sign Free Agents

After agreeing to terms on contracts through the end of June and early July, teams can begin to sign free agents on July 6.

The Jazz should have the non-taxpayer mid-level exception, and bi-annual exceptions to use to fill out the roster.

July ??? -20 – Salt Lake City and Las Vegas Summer Leagues

The Jazz have yet to announce the return of the Salt Lake City Summer League, though general manager Justin Zanik hinted at it during a television broadcast.

With Delta Center under construction this summer, the Jazz can move the offseason festivities to the Huntsman Center at the University of Utah where they held it in 2017 when the arena was last undergoing a makeover.

The Las Vegas Summer League will run from July 10-20.
