Coach Prime Lauds No. 25 BYU After Come-From-Behind Win

BOULDER, Colorado – Coach Prime often finds a way to praise his opponents, but that feels even more apparent whenever he takes on BYU and HC Kalani Sitake.
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders and Sitake have been close friends for years, bonding over faith, family, and a shared love of football.
“The utmost respect for the coaching staff over there, especially the head coach and his wonderful father that I’ve had the pleasure to meet twice now,” Coach Prime said following BYU’s 24-21 win over the Buffaloes at Folsom Field. “(A) Disciplined team, fundamentally sound. Fundamentally sound team played their butts off.”

Sanders did suggest his team had more talent, but still managed to come up short when the lights shone brightest.
“I can’t say I’m highly upset,” Sanders continued. “I’m upset with a few things, but sometimes, when it seems like you had more talent, but you didn’t quite win the game, it makes it feel awkward. We had opportunities, tremendous amount of opportunities. Nevertheless, we didn’t cash in on it, and sometimes it felt like the moment was just too big for some of our athletes, and they got to do something about that.”

“(The) young quarterback is phenomenal,” Sanders said of Bachmaier. “Proud of him. He did what he had to do to win the game. He made the plays that he was supposed to make to win the game.”

True freshman QB Bear Bachmeier accounted for 277 yards of offense while throwing for a pair of touchdowns.
The bruising former running back punished Colorado’s defense for 98 yards on the ground, many of those coming with the game on the line late.
