Reliving Every BYU Touchdown In 26-14 Win Over Cincinnati

PROVO, Utah – LJ Martin had a career day, and true freshman Bear Bachmeier continued his unflappable performance in a 26-14 BYU football road win over Cincinnati.

The Cougars (10-1, 7-1 Big 12) took down the Cincinnati Bearcats (7-4, 5-3 Big 12) on Saturday, November 22.

Bear Bachmeier sets BYU QB rushing TD record against Bearcats

True freshman QB Bear Bachmeier got the scoring started on BYU’s second drive of the night. Bachmeier completed three consecutive passes on a drive that ended with a six-yard rushing TD, giving the California native 11 rushing touchdowns this season.

The touchdown lifted the bruising runner past a trio of storied QBs in Provo.

Bachmeier surpasses Zach Wilson, Taysom Hill, and NFL Hall of Famer Steve Young with a chance to put the record out of reach for good with, at minimum, two games remaining.

Bachmeier took a pounding, but finished with 127 yards through the air and zero interceptions to go with 46 rushing yards on 13 attempts.

LJ Martin surpasses 1,000 yards on TD drive

After its defense forced a Cincinnati punt to begin the second half, the Cougars put the ball in LJ Martin‘s hands.

Martin carried five times for 29 yards and caught a pass for another 11 yards on the drive.

BYU led 17-7 after Martin’s TD.

LJ Martin breaks big run to ice road victory

Minutes after appearing to be injured earlier in the drive, LJ Martin ran 33 yards to pay dirt for his second TD of the night.

It was Martin’s fifth touchdown of the season and 19th of his BYU career.

Martin finished the game with his sixth 100-yard rushing game of the season on a career-high 222 yards on a career-high 32 carries. The junior finished with a career-high 266 total yards after adding three catches for a team-high 44 yards.
