Top commit, Noam Yaacov has finally signed with Utah basketball

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah basketball’s expected addition of centerpiece Noam Yaacov has been finalized, as Alex Jenen’s program announced his signing Friday.

Yaacov, the 6-foot-1 point guard who had been committed since April, has signed with the Runnin’ Utes, allowing the program to officially welcome him as part of the 2026-27 roster.

Noam Yaacov has signed with Utah

Friday, two days after the NBA Draft concluded, his addition to the team was made official and Yaacov is now a member of the Utah basketball program. Yaacov visited campus last week before meeting with NBA organizations, including Dallas and Cleveland, ahead of the draft.

A financial aid agreement was actually signed Tuesday, June 9, according to sources. That took Yaacov’s verbal commitment a step further, while still preserving his draft eligibility. Since Yaacov was an auto-eligible draft prospect, he did not have to declare for or withdraw from the draft, which was important.

There was a real possibility he could have been selected in the second round of the draft, which likely would have led to a fascinating new draft-and-stash situation.

Regardless, Utah now welcomes a player to the program who is already firmly on the NBA radar.

A lead guard fit for Alex Jensen’s vision

Jensen is prioritizing dynamic guards who can make quick decisions as scorers and playmakers. Guards who can get into the paint, manipulate defenses, keep the ball moving, and lead efficient offenses.

And Yaacov’s appeal starts with his ability to run a team. He brings pace, ball-screen comfort, passing vision and the ability to create offense for himself and others. For a Utah team looking to become more competitive in the Big 12 under Jensen, those traits matter.

During the 2025-26 season, Yaacov averaged 17.9 points, 5.8 assists and 3.9 rebounds while shooting 49% from the field, 40.3% from 3-point range and 77.4% from the free-throw line.

Those numbers explain why Yaacov is not just viewed as a top college addition, but as a legitimate NBA Draft prospect. Multiple draft analysts, including Sam Vecenie of The Athletic and Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports, evaluated Yaacov as a second-round-caliber prospect.

His professional background should help with some of the adjustment that comes with college basketball, especially in the Big 12. The league will test him physically, but Yaacov has already played in environments where possessions matter and mistakes get punished.

Fynn Schott, the last remaining addition

Fynn Schott, the 6-foot-9 forward/center from Austria, has still not officially signed with the Runnin’ Utes yet, but it is just a matter of patience, as the expectation remains he will join the program.

How soon is still to be determined. Schott is currently with his national Austrian men’s basketball team, which is set to compete in World Cup Qualifiers beginning with a game July 3rd against Poland. Some time following the conclusion of Austria’s World Cup competition is when Schott & Utah would make his addition official.

At the conclusion of his season with Hestia Menorca, the organization shared a post to Instagram thanking Schott for his contribution and wishing him good luck with Utah.

Once finalized, Schott would give Utah another frontcourt piece with size, international experience and developmental upside. His addition would also continue the broader theme of Jensen building a roster with more maturity, skill and experience.

The Bottom Line

Noam Yaacov signing with Utah is a significant step for Alex Jensen’s first roster, even if one final NBA Draft variable remains attached to his arrival.

The important part for Utah is that the plan has continued to move forward. Yaacov signed his financial aid agreement, arrived in Salt Lake City, appeared in a Utah uniform and remains expected to play for the Runnin’ Utes unless the NBA changes the equation.

That gives Utah a potential lead guard with professional experience, ball-screen feel and the kind of maturity that should matter in the Big 12. Jensen’s first roster will have a much different feel: older, more skilled, more international and better equipped to begin building the style of basketball Utah wants to play.

Now, the final remaining piece is Fynn Schott, and Utah still anticipates adding him soon.
