Team USA Cruise Past Finland As Hilary Knight Ties U.S. Olympic Scoring Record

SALT LAKE CITY – Following another explosive second period in Milan, Team USA cruised past Finland in dominant fashion to remain a perfect 2-0 in preliminary play.

Team USA dominate Finland to capture second win in Milan
After defeating Czechia 5-1 on Thursday afternoon, Team USA picked up right where they left off with another explosive offensive performance against Finland.
Despite a fairly competitive first period, USA erupted in the middle frame with three goals on 21 shots as they consistently broken down the Fin’s defense with speed, creativity and pinpoint passing to expose gaps.

Upon scoring USA’s fourth goal against Finland, team captain and local athlete Hilary Knight tied former Olympians Natalie Darwitz & Katie King for the most career Olympic goals by an American (14).

Notably, goaltender Aerin Frankel recorded her first Olympic shutout with 11 saves as the United States suffocated the Fins defensively with very little room to operate.
Who is Hilary Knight?
A native of Sun Valley, Idaho, Knight began playing hockey at the age of five when her family moved to Lake Forest, Illionis.
After playing college at the University of Wisconsin where she won two National Championships, Knight became the face of women’s hockey in the United States as she captured 10 World Championship gold medals and four Olympic medals.
When she’s not playing international hockey, Knight is the captain for the Seattle Torrent of the PWHL.
Notably, Knight trains part time in Utah with her partner and Team USA speed skater Brittany Bowe.

Following their victory over Finland, the United States Women’s hockey team will face Switzerland on Monday at 10:40 a.m. MT.
