SALT LAKE CITY – The 2026 World Baseball Classic is around the corner, with several nations hoping to hoist a championship trophy later this month.

Pool C kicks things off when Chinese Taipei faces Australia at 8 p.m. MT on Wednesday, March 4.

Team USA seeks to right the wrongs of a 2023 World Baseball Classic loss when Shohei Ohtani blew away Mike Trout with a fastball to secure Japan’s third WBC title since the event began in 2006.

A star-studded Dominican Republic team looks to challenge for the nation’s first title since 2013.

The Japanese group is favored to emerge from Pool C to defend their hard-earned 2023 championship.

Behind the three favorites, 17 nations vie for worldwide baseball supremacy in the sixth World Baseball Classic.

About Team USA

New York Yankees great Aaron Judge captains a stacked Team USA in his World Baseball Classic debut.

Manager Mark DeRosa has the luxury of rolling out an All-Star lineup every game of the tournament. The team includes:

  • 9 World Series titles
  • 7 MVP awards
  • 6 Cy Young Awards
  • 13 Gold Gloves
  • 10 Silver Sluggers
  • 3 Platinum Glove Awards
  • 5 Rookies of the Year

The starting staff is anchored by 2025 AL and NL Cy Young Award winners Paul Skenes (Pittsburgh Pirates) and Tarik Skubal (Detroit Tigers).

Young fireballer Mason Miller (San Diego Padres) joins All-Star relievers David Bednar (New York Yankees) and Clay Holmes (New York Mets) as part of a deep and dangerous bullpen.

2025 AL MVP runner-up Cal Raleigh (Seattle Mariners) joins two-time world champion Will Smith (Los Angeles Dodgers) to create one of the best catching tandems ever assembled.

Six-time All-Star and two-time NL MVP Bryce Harper (Philadelphia Phillies) mans first base in an infield that features up-and-coming stars Gunnar Henderson (Baltimore Orioles) and Bobby Witt Jr. (Kansas City Royals).

Three-time All-Star masher Kyle Schwarber (Philadelphia Phillies) rounds out the lineup as the designated hitter.

With a roster built on power, pitching depth, and postseason experience, Team USA enters the 2026 World Baseball Classic as a clear championship contender—and hungry for redemption.
