Evening forecast October 16, 2026

High pressure will park over the northern Rockies this weekend - shutting the door to any real storm system moving in. Temperatures as a result will be near or slightly above normal for the entire weekend with mostly sunny skies. The only catch is that a small low pressure system will sneak underneath that high and will kick some showers into southern Utah Sunday and possibly Monday. Luckily, these look to be isolated and generally light. Models continue to advertise a low pressure system that will drop south along the west coast early next week. It looks to move inland and across Utah between Wednesday and Friday. We could see showers develop as early as Tuesday, especially across southern Utah and the mountains. As the storm nears closer Wednesday, rain will move in from south to north and become widespread across the state. We'll keep widespread precipitation Thursday and lingering showers, especially in the eastern half of the state, on Friday. The timing and exact details on the rain are still uncertain at this time because these kinds of cut-off low-pressure systems are tricky. High elevation mountain snow (above 9000ft) still appears possible at this time. - Devan Masciulli, KSL Weather 10.16.26
