Evening forecast October 8, 2026
Friday will be similar to Thursday with widely scattered mountain showers/storms and highs in the low to mid 80s along the Wasatch Front. As we head into the weekend, we'll have a big pattern change thanks to a pacific northwest storm system and a surge of tropical moisture. The surge of tropical moisture will begin Saturday, but the heavy of rain will come early Sunday morning through Monday morning. So Saturday, we'll see isolated to scattered showers and storms - increasing in coverage as the day goes on, with limited measurable rainfall. Widespread rain takes over through Sunday into Monday. Depending on the track of the tropical storm remnants and the pacific northwest trough, we could have another round of heavy rain across a portion of Utah Monday into Tuesday. Periods of rain and high elevation snow will be possible through Wednesday. Wind will be strong through the weekend and early next week with gusts at times up to 50-60 mph. Flooding will be a concern for all vulnerable areas. A brief tornado Sunday into Monday is also possible. Rainfall totals in general: valleys 1-2" and mountains 2-4". - Devan Masciulli, KSL Weather 10.8.26
