Afternoon weather forecast for August 7, 2026
Less wildfire smoke expected today as the wind flow across northern Utah will likely keep the heavier smoke to the north of the Idaho border. Unfortunately it seems somewhat short-lived as models hint at thicker concentrations returning on Saturday. All the meanwhile high pressure will be right over Utah, this will serve to bump temperatures into the low 100s through the entire weekend with some records possible along the Wasatch Front. Mountain t-storms are possible on Sunday, with the monsoon trying to re-establish itself across the state through next week. - Matt Johnson, KSL Weather 8.7.26
