Morning weather forecast for August 31, 2026

With ample moisture in place and 2 low pressure systems moving into Utah this afternoon, we will see an elevated risk for heavy rainfall. Almost every corner of Utah will see some kind of chance for showers and storms today, but we are seeing an area of heightened risk for flash flooding. High flash flood risk is in play today for Castle Country, San Rafael Swell, Sanpete/Sevier Counties, and all the way down south to Escalante and Cedar City - this area highlighted in red (in the attached video recording today) will see the highest risk for flash flooding. The Wasatch Front will see showers and storms move in by afternoon/evening, pockets of heavy rain can't be ruled out. – Matt Johnson, KSL Weather 8.31.26
